Many companies or website owner make the mistake of buying web hosting from unreliable companies, and they regret this misstep later. In this step-by-step guide, we will share everything you need to know to buy reliable web hosting. But before moving ahead let’s first understand:

Why do you need web hosting?

A lot of people tend to think that registering a domain name is good enough to get a website active. What they fail to understand is that a domain is as good as your name, a name by which others may recognize you.

But in order to get a website active and live on the internet, you need to host a website and hosting a website means making a website available to public worldwide. When you create website, it is composed of web pages having text, images, videos and other content for people to see them. However, people can see your website only when it is available on the Internet.

To make your website available on the Internet, you have to store it on a computer called web server. When you buy some space on a web server and store your webpages there, your website becomes hosted and can be seen by anyone.

While there are multiple hosting services available, it is always advised not to buy something that is expensive. With a little bit of research one can get good web hosting services at an affordable price. You should not get tricked into buying more than what you actually require. There is always a scope to upgrade your hosting plan if your website starts generating huge amount of traffic.

For the purpose of this tutorial we will be using GoDaddy, which is one of the most well-known web hosting company, so let’s get started:

Step 1:

Go to in.godaddy.com and click on “Hosting” and then “Web hosting” at the top.

Step 2:

Select the hosting package that you need to buy. In our case, we have purchased Starter hosting package.

Click on Add to Cart.

Step 3:

On the next page select the term for hosting package. We would recommend buy it for more than 12 months, as you may get certain discount on it else if you want you can continue it for 12 months only.

Step 4:

If you are going to set up an E-commerce website then select SSL certificate. In our case, we have skipped it. Click on Continue.

Review your cart

This is the page where you will review your order. Though Godaddy is trusted by millions of users & is renowned for their services, but you need to know that Godaddy is notorious when it comes to Upselling. It will entice you to buy extra related domains, add more add-on services (Upselling), which we would recommend you to avoid. A lot of users end up buying add-ons & never use it.

Click on Proceed to checkout and here you need to create your hosting account. If you already have a Godaddy account, you can use it to login & save time.

Make Payment for hosting

Once you have created the account, next step is to make Payment. Godaddy is one of very few hosting that supports multiple payment methods. Depending upon your preference, you should pick the payment method & make the payment. As soon as you finished making the payment, you can start building your website on Godaddy.

Now you have successfully completed your task to buy web hosting with Godaddy and have complete authorization to use your web hosting as you want to.
